We discovered Wok Paper Scissors in one of our usual drives to Koramangala late in the night, looking for a place to discover. It had opened up in the end of 2016 in this space opposite Jyoti Nivas College where Lazeez used to be. Concept of Wok Paper Scissors was simple – you were handed a piece of paper with options of toppings, sauce, carbs, size of meal and extras. Quite economically priced. One and half years later, we are invited to Wok Paper Scissors for a tasting. I love the place, so we head there after work. I had never dined there before, but the place is pretty neat, basic duplex but tasteful. And they now have a full-fledged menu aside from the wok downstairs.
The chef met us, and explained his menu and how he is looking at placing these new offerings. Meanwhile we noticed the tables cleared very quickly, and people were constantly coming in. Orders were plenty for delivery, the place is buzzing with activity. We started with some comforting Tom Kha soup, and the Chicken Steamed Dim Sums. The Bali Style Fish came wrapped in banana leaves, and were outstanding! The fish was flavorsome, spicy and soft in texture. The Ebi Prawns were not bad – with garlic, lemongrass tossed and crispy fried.
And then, on an impulse we got the Pork Ribs, and great decision! It was juicy and absolutely right balance of fat and meat cooked to perfection. 3 ribs in a bowl, I would definitely go back just for this. While they did have conventional main courses like Sri Lankan curry, Sambal Fried Rice and a large variety of pan Asian dishes, we opted for the wok boxes. I was delighted to see the quantity and taste were just as how I remembered it!
The Last Word
Wok Paper Scissors is a restaurant on a street that is overloaded with places to eat. But their offering is different and pocket friendly. The service is outstanding – Kuku from the staff – must get a mention in my review! This place brings back the Asian food in a delightful format, and definitely gets a recommendation from us!
