Zzungry is a home delivery startup that delivers dishes made with curated recipes of Indian food. What’s different about them? Their claim to fame is that the food is almost fine dining standard, in terms of preparation, quality and taste. And the unique aspect is that they are bringing a rich and royal rendition to Indian food at home. The menus change weekly. Initially they started off with just starters and mains, but now they serve snacks and combos as well. I tried their food when they had opened up initially, and loved it. Recently, we had friends over and while I am not a big fan of elaborate Indian food at home, everyone else picked Indian and we got Zzungry.
Given that they are purely a delivery service, the packaging needs to be right, and they’ve got this aced. The packaging is neat, secure and makes sure the food doesn’t spill, leak or cause an utter mess on the way. The Bharvan Murg Hyderabadi was delicious – chicken drum sticks stuffed with spicy chicken keema. Very well made, succulent and spicy. The Tandoori Malai Broccoli was another hit! Loaded with cream and cheese that went perfect with the fresh broccolis – malai complimenting the vegetable well. Their Dhania Murg was also a rather interesting preparation, a thick gravy with soft chicken, and a well-blended taste of coriander. I am not really fond of the dishes they do with poultry and cream, perhaps because I personally don’t like that combination much. The Murg Sajji Tikka was one such dish, though the chicken itself was well marinated and cooked. They mainly have variety options of vegetarian and chicken dishes, though feature mutton and fish as well.
With their changing and improvising menu, Zzungry is constantly trying to expand and challenge its horizons, and that’s good for us as well. I see a lot of Bengali additions to the menu, and will update with a review of those soon.
