I have been a little irregular lately, but don’t blame me fully just yet. Work took a hectic turn, and of course my weekends are pretty occupied with the course at IIM Bangalore. But we always and must make time for food. And I did! Last Sunday, a few of us went to the Sunday Brunch at B Cafe in Shangri-La. My second visit to the hotel, and I was nothing less than impressed this time around as well. The thing with brunches is that it’s now become more of a concept rather than the tradition it arose from. And the spreads keep growing, getting more innovative, the liquor selection, cocktails are now an integral part of a brunch, a live music performance is a fine thing to have, an alfresco seating on a warm, sunny day – well clearly, I could go on! Shangri-La calls this their Mighty Sunday Lunch at B Cafe. And indeed, it is mighty!
As we walked into B Cafe last Sunday, the place was completely buzzing with nice, happy music, and food literally every corner of this massive restaurant. And the food is not limited to a cuisine or region or concept. The extensive culinary spread showcase some special delicacies on rotating theme counters. Last week there was Arabic Shawarma, Chat on the cart, Taka Tak Tawa, Sushi and Sashimi, and a host of grills and tandoors, sea food and more. To have a large variety of handmade Sushi and Sashimi and California-Style Maki Rolls and Cones, authentically prepared to order is a fantastic experience for travelers and I personally loved it! They call their live cooking station Excite, offering Chinese and Asian specialties, such as Stir-Fried Noodles, Beijing Duck, Spiced Tofu, Dim Sum and special vegetarian dishes. And also a variety of Asian curries, the chicken thai red curry was delicious!
There were Pizza counters, a variety of pastas, a special Parsi selection that day – serving the saali murg and more, a pretty size-able salad bar, a barista, dim sums, a staggering dessert selection, I could just go on. I won’t. This is a lavish, luxury buffet that you need to experience to believe. Led by Executive Chef Antonio Tardi and Chef de Cuisine Rounak Kinger, the Mighty Sunday Lunch at b Cafe, has unilaterally set a different bar for Sunday Brunches. The Mighty Lunch is priced at INR 2299 + taxes with unlimited soft beverages and INR 3399 + taxes with unlimited selected spirits and wines.
