The Whitefield Bar and Grill (WBG) is Bengaluru Marriott’s best kept secret. It’s this beautiful hideaway alfresco restaurant by the pool side that does great burgers and steaks. They have won several restaurant competitions like World on a Plate and have also consistently been in the top restaurants of Bangalore on TripAdvisor. What they do different? The sourcing of the meat is key, and they get that right. A simple menu that focuses on meats, fish and sea food – definitely playing their strengths well.

Tapash and I were recently invited to the Burgers ‘N’ Brews festival. Again, a crisp menu of gourmet burgers – with two vegetarian selections, and chicken, pork, beef and lamb. Each burger is paired with a select beer from the restaurant – some with the Kingfisher draught from the tap, while others were recommended with the various Geist beers, available on tap. Each of the burgers had its own type of bread and bun, sourdough, focaccia, corn bread etc.
Our choices were pretty simple. Tapash opted for the Chili con Carne – a Mexican inspired burger with refried beans and Monterey Jack cheese, topped with Chipotle Mayo. On the side there was guacamole and sour cream, along with fries and house salad. Chef Jamal strongly recommended the Mushroom Provolone Burst that had a crumb fried patty with roasted bell peppers, pickled cucumber – so packed a punch!
And then I had the Super Burger. It was all things good – tenderloin patty, nicely done, generous bits of bacon, gruyere cheese, gherkins and topped off with truffle mayonnaise. This is usually my go-to burger, and this one was great! The healthy salad sides didn’t hurt one bit. The Unkle Dunkle and Weiss Guy were our beers of choice, and then we moved onto Witty Wit. Food was great, as was the place. The burgers are sumptuous and very filling.
The Last Word
The Burgers ‘N’ Brews festival started on 2nd August and is running until 14th August. I would recommend the burgers we tried, and I must add the Pulled Pork looked like an interesting option too. Whitefield Bar and Grill is a great place to go on a date, or just unwind with friends, nice and quiet. The only drawback would be the slow service, especially if it’s a packed evening. But the hideaway location ensures the vibe and clientele is exclusive.
Awesome foods! I love really your amazing delicious rich and tasty foods! I will definitely visit your restaurant on my visit to Bangalore.
