Are we a city obsessed with large sized spaces? First Byg Brewski Hennur, then Iron Hill in Marathalli and now the latest addition, Oia Bangalore. Spread over a whopping 87,000 sq.feet, modeled after a village in Santorini, Greece – Oia is Asia’s largest pub. Well for now! When it opened up, and the weeks following, there were a lot of reels and posts declaring this as the new IT place, and then some viral content on reasons not to visit. The lesson there? Success and bad publicity trend equally.
I visited the place after a couple months, it was a weekend and we’d planned an entire day that side of town. Hennur is very far for me, so I had to strategize! Much as I like to share details, I will share some bullet points if you don’t want to read my whole story!
Things to know
- Oia is a huge place but still get a reservation, yes they take them now.
- If you’re yet to visit, avoid the weekends for a bit longer.
- They are pet friendly and child friendly. Some of these were introduced after the first month.
- Best time to visit Oia is for a sun downer.
- It’s a great place for dinner dates and even gang hangs! The cabanas by the water are great to chill at.

We went there on a Sunday and loved the place. The details are amazing – and the sheer expanse is quite amazing. The entire place is effortlessly picturesque, there were SO many instagrammable spots almost everywhere we looked. The food was very nice as well, a mix of modern Indian, Asian and comfort food. I would recommend the Tequila Pani Puri and the Garlic Prawns – both were lipsmacking-ly good! The pork belly was a good choice too, and the dumplings. The sushi wasn’t my favorite there, but still pretty decent, the uramaki atleast. And the cocktails were great too!
Towards the evening of our time, it started raining, pretty hard. While it was gorgeous, (I have learnt to enjoy the rains) the open ground and cabanas are pretty exposed. Almost all tables were moved indoors, but we stayed out enjoying the wind, rains and view. Super pretty and peaceful! Overall the place was gorgeous and the service too. A little bit of waiting is warranted given the size of the place.
