While I knew of Myra being in the market, I hadn’t tried it myself. But when they were kind enough to send me a bottle of Misfit, I thought to myself that the timing couldn’t be better. Myra had launched a red blend named ‘Misfit’, a limited edition cuvee. This blend is of a classic Cabernet Sauvignon and fruity Shiraz, aged in French oak barrels – but also retained the natural characteristics due to being unfiltered.
Myra’s Misfit – Limited Edition Red Wine Varietal
Appearance & Label
The bottle was in a pink encasement, and the label was a simple white inscribed with an interwoven English font designed in Sanskrit lettering, with a screw cap on.
Color
Deep red, intense and slightly cloudy.
Aroma & Body
The wine itself is medium bodied, revealed by the swirl. The aroma is not subtle, quite fruity and spicy with a strong berry whiff. The French Oak cask brings out the pronounced aromas very well.
Taste
It is a medium-bodied, with a fruity and spicy flavor. There is a hint of oakiness amidst the lush berry flavor. The unfiltered wine reminded me of the Goan wines that we love, and Misfit brings a lot of interesting character to it. Rich in tannins, the wine feels slightly dry, and ends with a medium sweet finish.
Pairing
Recommended with lamb, meat sauce, pizza and pastas – the right accompaniment for a good meal. Serve at 16 – 18ºc.
Availability
In Karnataka, Misfit is exclusively available only at the Crowne Plaza, Bangalore. This is not available at retail outlets. Price: Rs. 1,500 – with proceeds going to charity.
