Growing up, there’s one thing I always believed in. The best time for ice cream is all the time. And of course there’s so many kind of them these days – gelatos, sorbet, yogurt and the zillion flavors of ice cream. The happy new world! Mövenpick Ice Cream has been around in Bangalore for a few years now but I hadn’t visited it until this weekend. The store is a nice and neat ice cream boutique, and they serve imported swiss ice creams. Why did Mövenpick launch ice creams? To achieve the perfection in taste, making each flavor a work of culinary art. The main intent back in the day, was to provide ice creams to demanding chefs of their restaurants and for in house sales – but later expanded to have retail outlets. In 2003, Nestle bought the international rights for Mövenpick ice cream, and an independent business unit called Swiss Premium Ice Cream was created – the main production site continues to be in Switzerland.
The flavors here are natural, and sourced from all over the world to achieve this Swiss perfection – so there is Vanilla Pods from Madagascar, Cocoa from Ecuador and Cream from Switzerland – only the finest produce is chosen as the ingredients. There are SO many flavors, and more in take-home tubs available at the store. The curious and MUST tries would be Pannacotta – the first one that I tried, Raspberry & Strawberry, Coconut and Swiss Chocolate (loved this!) and the Mango of course! Each of the flavors are distinct, beautiful and leaves you wanting more. The Pannacotta is refreshing, fruity and creamy, while the Raspberry and Strawberry has essence of fresh fruit, beautifully blended!
The boutique also serves waffles, pancakes, sparkling sorbets, milkshakes and some fine coffee. An ice cream experience here shows another dimension to perfection, a luxury unparalleled in the city. Check out the Mövenpick Ice Cream boutique store in Lavelle Road, highly recommended for the discerning palate.
