Market Table is located in Koramangala 5th Block, a neat little layout of a restaurant. Simple decor, no frills but not too rustic either, and brightly lit. We were invited for a review, and we headed out there after work. The food menu is concise, but has a LOT of options. Their value proposition – organic food that is delicious and affordable. Now, to me as a consumer that is crucial, because even in departmental stores, organic vegetables and products are priced quite premium. And now a menu that is made with organic ingredients in direct correlation should be expensive as well. But Market Table is well priced. Very well priced.
Now for what we ate. We got the Wheat Chia Rolls – vegetarian and chicken variants. Served on the side with spicy salsa, these rolls were light mini rolls – filled in with jalapeno, sweet corn. Perfect to start off with. The Batata Harra tossed with whole spices was nice to munch on as well. Their version of chicken wings are actually chicken thigh – oven roasted with a hot sauce. Tastes really really good. What you’ll probably miss is a beer 🙂
What’s very interesting about the Market Table’s main menu is that it’s an assortment of ingredients, vegetables and meat – that can be either consumed like a salad bowl or a wrap. I got the MT Signature Lamb – marinated and grilled lamb with assorted lettuce, peppers, jalapenos, tomatoes and house dressing. You could also get some of their nice fresh garlic bread on the side. Now I was already slightly full, but thoroughly enjoyed the lamb salad. The meat itself, well cooked and not oily AT ALL.
Around the table, we also got other bowls with prawns and chicken. The chicken was cooked in an Asian sauce, very nice. While the cajun prawns were juicy and good sized. And to accompany the mains we got some smoothies – Chocolate Avocado Strawberry Smoothie, Berry Punch, Banana Cream Pie Protein Shake – I can tell you that I loved these! Fresh, and NO added sugar. We were reluctant to have dessert, but the Avocado Mousse and Vanilla Yoghurt – were delicious. Not overly sweet or creamy, just kept simple with the natural ingredients.
The Last Word
To be honest, this isn’t really my kind of food. But I loved it. The food didn’t make me feel heavy and weighed down. The oil content in all the dishes were minimal, because let’s face it, that’s not helping your body. They have a couple of training menus – specialized diets for people who are working out. I would strongly recommend Market Table because this place offers clean, healthy food that’s not going to burn your pocket. Go check it out!
