This was an event that I was eagerly waiting for. And when it got rescheduled last time, I was almost sure I was going to miss it. But the universe was kind, and we attended the #GoCheeseTasting in collaboration with Femina at Biere Club on 5th December with fellow food enthusiasts, bloggers and media folks. The event had the brand ambassador celebrity chef Ranveer Brar and stand up comedian Sahil Seth.
Our evening started with Sahil’s gig. And he obviously cracked all of us up with some of his classic jokes, and the audience was in splits with his anecdotes and humour. Well we didn’t make it too easy, and he said it’s because we were a big bunch of women! See a small LIVE clip from the show here! And no, men were there as well! Mr.Mahesh Israni, CMO Go Cheese India tool up the stage next to explain about the company, it’s strategy and competitive positioning. Always good to hear the background of a now successful brand!
And then it was time for the celebrity chef and acclaimed TV Show host – Ranveer Brar, who was welcomed onto the stage with an enthusiastic applause from a crowd that had been waiting with a lot of anticipation. And he was worth the wait! Ranveer started discussing the various myths about imported cheese, and also his take on pairing cheese. Gouda, Colby, ranges of Cheddar were his focus, while also educating the audience on the origin and background to these gourmet selections. Old cheese with old wine was his recommendation, as he spoke of the ideal matches. The folks at Biere Club meanwhile set up cheese platters on the tables, and started by pouring the KRSMA K2 Red Wine into the glasses, which would go just right with Gouda or even the Orange Cheddar. The white wine followed shortly – the beautiful KRSMA Sauvignon Blanc – mildly citric, refreshing and fruity – paired with Colby.
As chef proceeded to list his top 10 variants of eating cheese in fun, delicious yet quirky way, we were served some bite sized mains made of Go Cheese, recipes conceptualized by the chef himself. The Beet Root Carpaccio was delicious, and absolutely worth NOT sharing! The Toasty Bruschetta topped with sliced cheese was nice to munch on, while the Oozy Cheese Pepper Calzone with Agrodolce was the next favorite. There was also the a pastry crumble that had Chilli Grape Chutney for flavors.
The desserts were delectable, and surprisingly light. Almette cheese topped with Hummingbird cake garnished with edible flowers and nut was just quite something! The other dessert was a fruity one with cream and biscotti, nice but I had already picked my favorite! Meanwhile Ranveer spoke about how cheese can be used to blend into a black pepper mayo sorbet, or as a goeey cheese plum jam, and sometimes even mixed with Baileys’ for fun.
