At the onset I would inform readers that we have visited FoxTrot several times, and this review is based on the all of the experiences. The interiors are like a Bohemian lounge – bright furniture, large wall art, quirky statement pieces and a large lit up bar! During the day it is more mellow, so you spot the panda chairs, and the colorful plush couches. House of Foxtrot is located in Marathalli, accessible easily for tech parks in the area, and well that’s probably the prime audience for the place as well.
Food & Drinks
FoxTrot has some interesting drinks – and I’ve probably had them all so here goes. The consensus is that What-a-Matcha is brilliant, and we concur. Whiskey and ginger syrup with Matcha tea makes a delicious combination served in a tea cup, and topped with fresh citrus juice. There are a couple of gin based cocktails which are pretty good, my favorite is the one with basil leaves and citrus juice, though the Sprouty G&T is fun too. There are a few nice and simple drinks like Mekong, Urban Decay. Garden Fresh comes in a cute little setup, again gin. You know what I am drinking these days 😊. The loaded popsicles are like gola with liquor. We got the Blueberry – that’s with vodka, black pepper, cranberry juice, black salt – giving it an interesting aftertaste. But it’s not very convenient to drink, so didn’t explore the other variants.
In food, there is an expansive menu, but mostly we have tried the Small Plates section. Soya Keema Samosa, Malai Broccoli, Chicken Lollipops, Curry Leaf prawns have got to be my top picks! They also serve platters, and the vegetarian platters come in options of The Big Fry Up with onion rings, mac and cheese poppers, soy samosas, and the Indian Veg that has the classic Indian starters like paneer tikka, soya chaap, potato barrels etc. There are similar sharing platters in non-vegetarian as well. The monster fries are fun, the lamb and sour cream one is my go-to order usually at Fox Trot. The dim sums are nice as well.
In large plates, fish moilee, spaghetti, Hong Kong Chili Chicken with noodles are very nice – comfort food at best. Haven’t tried much from these, but will get around to it in one of my next visits! The desserts are where I believe there is probably room for improvement. The churros could be crispier, the bhapa doi needs a little more flavor and steam. The flourless choco cake is better among these, while the Hot Chocolate Fudge needs a lot more fudge!
The Last Word
So, a lot of people are under the impression that Bellandur, Marathalli & Sarjapur had no nice places to hang. I do not agree with this generalization. While this side is no Indiranagar 100 feet road, we have had a steady growth of hotels and restaurants in the past 6 years, some of which are worth traveling a great deal of distance for. And House of Foxtrot brings a differentiator, and we appreciate the novelty it brings in food and drinks. The décor is distinct, but the most impressive thing I’d say is the service. And I have been there when we were the only table, and other times when we were packed in a party. Yet every single time, great service – both by the wait staff and from the kitchen. Definitely worth going to, and they have great corporate packages as well.
