Chandon, the official partner of The McLaren Honda F1 Team, hosted a sundowner at Shiros – UB City, on Sunday – 15th May 2016. It was Sunday’s Formula 1 Gran Premio de Espana Pirelli 2016, which served up a close race between Red Bull and Ferrari; with Max Verstappen becoming the youngest F1 winner in history as he took an amazing victory. We reached Shiro at around 5pm, to see the last few laps of the race. Shiro was set up with photo booths of the Honda team, and some great wines to go around.
Starting with the Chandon Brut Sparkling white – one of my favorites – I do love a bit of bubble, paired very nicely with the Asian fare of Shiro. The Prawn Sui Mai was deliciously steamed, lovely with the black pepper sauce. And the Tofu in Thai Peanut Sauce was extremely flavorful and soft. Shiro serves the best Tofu in the city, and I loved it this time around as well. The Vietnamese vegetable spring rolls were crispy and quite the bar food. Shifting to the pretty pink Chandon Rose, with intense strawberry and cherry flavors, this was quite a beautiful drink.
There were some fun Summer Spritzers lined up as well. The Summer Kissed was lots of bubbles, generous orange slices and basil leaves – a nice and tangy twist to the Chandon. My favorite for the evening was Elder flower Spritz – a spunky signature cocktail with orange, cucumber and elder flower – a burst of beautiful contrasts!
The event saw some prominent fashion and lifestyle bloggers of the city, and the Chandon India team come together. A fun evening of great wines, and some really good food by Shiro. We look forward to seeing more of Chandon in the city, that loves her sparkles and bubbles!
