We were invited to The Cake Shop for a preview and tasting of new additions to the menu, and on a hot Labor Day afternoon we made our way there. From past experience, The Cake Shop has excellent creations in cakes and desserts. Hence we were quite looking forward to the unveiling that afternoon. And disappointed, we were not! With exquisite craftsmanship, there were some beautiful luxury desserts created that were both delicious and spectacular.
There were several handcrafted cakes on display. Alphonso Mango and Chocolate Cherry were two of the newly introduced sweet indulgences in the menu. One of the pastry chefs at Leela briefly demonstrated the presentation and finish of a marble cake, that was set and brought out, streaked and then topped with edible flowers and berries. The afternoon also saw some delicious hot chocolate, although not needed in this weather – but desirable indeed. The hot chocolate used the Callebaut Dark and Gold, enriched with Whisky, Gianduja, Passion, Cognac or Saffron as different flavors. We liked ours really dark, so the Whisky was delicious! Oh, and we also had the Callebaut Gold chocolates, those little balls of heaven 😛 We also got some savories and snacks to bite into in between these delectable and indulging creations.
The Last Word
Lastly, The Cake Shop at The Leela features a range of hand made chocolates, delectable macarons, various flavors of cheesecakes, origami cakes, and a new set of desserts inspired by Callebaut Gold. The rich flavors of the chocolate is perfectly complemented with a delicate balance. Designed to enjoy every element of the creation individually and as a whole. A wonderful experience at The Leela, and with Chef Avijit Ghosh, Jameson and their team. Go check this out!
