Blue Frog is a revolutionary integrated music project that opened up in Bangalore last year, after huge success runs in Bangalore and Pune. Located on Church Street, it is a popular hangout and the coveted performers that this venue has brought to the city makes it quite the go-to place. The place is a spacious set up, 2 floors, outdoor section, and a well sized stage. And yes, one of the longest bars in the city! I was recently there for an evening meet up, and had a tasting of their new menu. Their food is modern world cuisine and creative, with Asian flavors and twists, while also featuring some of the Blue Frog classics. Blue Frog is all-day dining – so whether it’s a meal, drink or conversation, it’s always the right time!
Our meal started with an assortment of appetizers. The Chargrilled Lemon Mustard Fish was a delicious creation of Mahi Mahi with a strong mustard marinade and tabbouleh – loved the flavors in this dish, but then it’s mustard fish and I am Bengali! What can I say J The Chicken Tikka was up next, this is a popular dish here, chunks of chicken with blueberry chutney – quite a combination – the Thai touch to the tikka. The Poached Pear Salad came next – think of a fruity salad – and then there was toasted walnuts, bitter chocolate sauce and cranberry jelly. Like a fusion of changing tastes in every bite! And lastly, my standard favorite at Blue Frog – Baked Brie, never to be missed! It’s a beautiful creation of mini puffs with chilled pineapple compote – a fantastic part of this.
We decided to share the mains, because we were already on the brink of being completely full! Chef recommended the Chicken Tikka Masala in makhani gravy with rice. The curry was a little sweet and creamy, not too rich – but very delicious, Thumbs up! The Grilled Stuffed Chicken had creamy broccoli fillings didn’t really make much of an impression, the dish just felt a little too heavy and the chicken was more chewy than juicy. For the desserts, we got the Japanese Cheesecake and the Homemade Rocky Road Ice Cream. The Japanese Cheesecake is a crust less version, with apple slaw and jam, not too sweet, and quite light and fluffy. The Rocky Road was served with chocolate brownie, bits of marshmallow and ice cream, a shareable dessert. There aren’t a lot of options, but good desserts are all we need!
Blue Frog is all set to celebrate their first anniversary. Contests will be starting soon on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! Win #FreePasses to the first anniversary. #Frogturns1
