For the past couple of years, we have been to BBC – i.e. Bengaluru Baking Company in JW Marriott for their scrumptious bakes and their lovely High Teas. The bright and chic café in the ground floor of the hotel has a beautiful layout with their offerings from the patisserie and a chocolate boutique, entering into a marble oval island featuring various beverages, and a feast of sweets and savories. And then a nice, windy alfresco that’s perfect for a lazy evening. Recently, BBC launched an all new menu. So one afternoon, post an amazing blow out session at Blown, a friend and I headed to JW to check out this menu.
The menu reads as Love at First Bite, and couldn’t have been named more aptly. A nice classy café menu that actually has the pricing of a bistro despite being in a 5-star hotel. Salads and sandwiches seemed like a good place to start. Asian Chopped Salad and BBC’s version of the BLT sandwich in a salad were our choices for entrée. The Asian Salad was light, fresh and healthy – lettuce, carrot, bean sprouts with peanuts, mint and coriander balancing the flavors well. The BLT was delightful, bacon and poached egg with lots of greens – exactly my kinda salad. The chef recommended the BBC Bombay Sandwich, and we loved it! Absolutely yummy, well done! Then we got the Orange Caprese, a twist on the classic caprese
We also got some of their beautiful pot teas, those tea pots are definitely work of art. My choice of beverage was Very Berry Strawberry – that was probably the prettiest drink slash dessert ever! Vaishnavi got the Chikmagalur cold coffee – and that was quite something – Frozen Coffee cubes with flavored milk. Really great coffee, rendered quite differently. We also got the Prawn Po Boy – and shared it all around!
The menu also has wraps, pastas and burgers – but honestly the first two courses were way too filling to move past. I did order a couple of beers from their brewery, and they have a tap right in BBC. They serve hookah as well. Definitely heading back to try some more of this inspired menu, can definitely say it’s worth it!
